1. Fire Fighter of The Year
a. The Individual must be a member in good standing of a Lancaster County Fire
Company, which is a member of the L.C.F.A.
b. The individual must be a member in good standing of the L.C.F.A.
c. A biographical sketch shall be provided.
d. Request should be on fire company stationary, signed by a fire company officer, or by more then one individual.
e. Only one award will be given each year.
2. Distinguished Service Award
a. Individual must be a member in good standing of an emergency service organization that is a member of the L.C.F.A,
b. The individual need not be a member of the L.C.F.A .
c. A biographical sketch shall be provided.
d. Request should be on organization stationary, sign by an officer, or more then one individual.
e. Only one award will be given each year.
3. Either one or both awards may be made each year.
4. Medal of Valor
a. Awarded to a Firefighter/EMS for performance above and beyond the call of duty at extreme personal risk, and being instrumental in rescuing and saving another’s life.
5. Medal of Gallantry
a. Awarded to a Firefighter/EMS who, at great personal risk, has been instrumental in rescuing and saving another from possible death, or injury.
6. Medal of Courage
a. Awarded to a Firefighter/EMS who was involved in and act of bravery in time of
emergency.
7. Life Member
a. Awarded to a member in good standing of the L.C.F.A. for forty (40) years of
membership.
b. The L.C.F.A. executive Board is responsible for this award.
8. Unit Citation
a. The unit citation is awarded to an individual unit (eng, truck, rescue co.) who, as a team, utilized their firemanship and training to bring a successful out come of an emergency situation.
b. This award will only be granted one time per company per year.
9. Executive Citation
a. The executive Board may award an executive citation to one or more individuals at their discretion.
Rules For Entry of Awards
1. All request must be presented to the L.C.F.A Executive Board no later then the April monthly meeting, any request there after may not be granted.
2. There is no limit on the member of awards to be given each year.
3. The recipient must be a member of an emergency service organization of L.C.F.A.
4. A description of the action for the award shall be provided.
5. The full name, address, phone number of the nominee or nominee’s shall be provided.
6. The name, address, phone number, e-mail address of the chief, or board of the
company, making the nomination. The person or persons requesting the awards will be notified if award is granted.
7. The recipient should be present at the awards ceremony following the memorial
services the Friday night before the convention
8. As of January 2012 all Valor, Gallantry, an Courage medals will be in the form of service bars
9. The Executive Board will attempt to standardize the type, and size of the awards from year to year.
10. All awards will be the decision of the Executive Board.
